Last weekend Wyatt and I went to the beach with my family. Andrew was at the beach as well, but with a bunch of guy friends. It is their annual trip and it just happened to be the same weekend. We had a great time at the beach relaxing and playing games. The only thing was that Wyatt had a hard time sleeping that weekend. He kept waking up in the middle of the night and I would comfort him to put him back to sleep. I didn't think about it then, but Andrew thought maybe it was because of teething. Our first pediatrician did say that teething can start as early as 3 months. I just wasn't sold on it. The next few days he had been drooling more and when I checked his bottom gums, it looked like his teeth were coming in. It was like two half moon shapes where his bottom two teeth would go. C R A Z Y! My little baby is teething. Oh, it's so sad when he just cries and cries and nothing will help. I can't even imagine what that must feel like to have sharp teeth pierce through your gums. OUCH! He actually hasn't been too bad. We bought some tylenol just in case he needed some for night time. I don't like giving it to him if I don't need to. Who knows it could be weeks before we see an actual tooth!
He is all about rolling these days. He can now roll from his back to his tummy and he does it ALL the time. Almost every time you lay him down on his back he will roll over to his tummy. He hasn't learned how to roll back over yet.
Wyatt also loves to grab my face. I'll put it inches away from his face and he'll reach up and just start exploring my face. He'll touch my nose, eyes, lips...whatever he can get his little hands on. Then he'll smile. He knows he has my heart. Goodness, I love our little boy. He seriously is such a great little baby. We are so blessed and I am so excited to teach him about the world! :)

4 months (18 weeks)
Wyatt turned 4 months old on October 5th. He is such a big boy! He can officially hold his head up now. Well, he has been able to since about 16 weeks. We saw the pediatrician on Monday and these are Wy's measurements:
Weight: 15.12 lbs. (64%) BIG BOY!
Height: 26 1/2" (91%) They asked where he got his height..so tall!
Head Circumference: 43 cm (67%) He is more proportioned..not such a big head anymore..well, it is still hard to get some clothes over his head.
We love the new pediatrician! My mom actually went to high school with his wife and I went to school with his son - nice to have connections! He was really interested in Wyatt and observing him and his personality and asking lots of questions. He kept saying how strong he is. He really is though. When he grabs onto your thumbs and you pull him up, he will stand on his legs. He loves standing. He will smile at anyone and is starting to laugh more. Grandpa can get him to laugh like crazy! :) He is cooing ALL the time. It is so fun to interact with him now and talk about to his cooing. He loves to look at himself in the mirror (although he doesn't realize it is him yet)
He mentioned that we could start him on some rice cereal and solids...CRAZY! This is a whole new world to me...we'll see if he likes it. I went out and bought a feeding spoon and rice cereal. We tried it a couple of mornings ago and didn't seem too interested but it also didn't seem like he was absolutely opposed to it. I'll try it again this weekend, but I guess you just have to be persistent with it. Watch the video below.
Well, we went back in forth between what method to try for putting wyatt down to sleep (naps and bedtime) and ended up with the "cry it out" method. I didn't think I liked this one but ended up working really well. I was just getting so exhausted rocking or bouncing him to sleep. We needed to figure something else out! Last Friday night we tried it for bedtime. We tried to pick up on his cues - yawning and rubbing his eyes. Then we turned on white noise (his bear makes womb sounds/beach sounds) and laid him in his crib. The first time we let him go 3 minutes of crying and then I went up to check on him. I soothed him with my hand on his cheek and put the pacifier in his mouth, which he likes to suck on. The next interval would be 5 minutes, and then 7, 10, 1, or whatever we want. Well, when I went to go check on him after the 5 minutes he was out! We were amazed! I was trying not to get my hopes up, but pretty much every other time since has only been a few minutes of crying. I think the key is to watch for the early signs of being tired. We were letting him go too long and then he was overtired.
I think I want to try and swaddle Wyatt with one arm out. He loves to have his fingers in his mouth and I've noticed a couple of times he has come out from his swaddle and is sucking on his fingers and it puts him right to sleep: self-soothing = YES! He has just started sucking his thumb. He will totally put just his thumb in his mouth. It is the cutest thing EVER!
Here are a few of his 4 month pictures I took. On the last picture, you can totally see his hair growing...I have a strange feeling it might be growing up! :) Wyatt is such a blessing. Sometimes I still cannot believe we have a baby. He is such a mellow baby and it's so fun to already see some of his personality. I think I will like this next stage. It was actually interesting to hear the pediatrician say that from 4-6 months babies are much more social and outgoing, smiling at everyone. When they yet 7-9 months they are a little more stand off-ish.
On a side note, I have started Power90 (a less intense P90X) and it's going very well. I really enjoy it and it doesn't take very long. I just started week 3 today. We'll see if I can lose some of this baby weight. One and half pounds down..a lot to go!!! :)

16 weeks.
Wyatt had two more seizures this week, but they were on his head. It was his head that was shaking, not his arms. It was so weird and I got completely freaked out. We called the on-call pediatrician. She asked a bunch of questions and basically said that it might just be muscle spasms. I go in to the doctors in a week for Wyatt's 4 month and so we will talk to him then.
Wyatt had his first cold this week - it was absolutely pitiful! He was so congested and started coughing a bit. As soon as I put the humidifier in the room we both started feeling better! I think it lasted almost a week for him.
Sometimes I just can't get over that he is our baby. He is getting SO big. I can't wait to see how much he weighs and go to the doctors. We are just taking one day at a time (no pun intended) and enjoying each day as it comes to us. I don't want to always say, "I can't wait until he can do this or that..", but enjoy what is in front of us.
This week Wyatt rolled over from his tummy to his back. We always had him on his back waiting for him to roll to his tummy and it just wasn't happening. We were looking at it all wrong...he just wanted to be on his tummy and roll over! It just makes him seem that much older!
