6 months.

Well, I meant to do a 5 1/2 month post, but here we are at 6 months. WOW! Wyatt is half a year already. I feel like so much is going to change this next month. He is already working on sitting up. If he has something in front of him to play with he can sit up, otherwise, if he turns...see ya wyatt! :)

Wyatt had his 6 month doctor appointment today. Here are wyatt's stats: (26 weeks)
- weight: 18 lb. 11 oz. (70%)
- head circumference: 45 1/2 cm (90%)
- height: 27 1/4" (77%)

The pediatrician suggested getting rid of the pacifier sooner than later. He said he realized it is a psychological thing and they begin thinking it's a comfort thing to have. He suggested between 6-9 months to begin weaning them. Wyatt's bellybutton is a little brown on the inside and I have always wondered why. The doctor said it is the pigmentation and will eventually go away. He said it is ok to drink some water and start a sippy cup. Apparently sitting up is a skill that usually isn't mastered until 7 months! Wyatt is doing great, but had a pretty rough day after his shots. Poor little guy. Oh, he also said that since he has his two bottom teeth in, usually the upper 4 are the next to come in. We'll see.

23 weeks:
- We gave wyatt some peas and he didn't seem like a big fan, yet! :)
- His 9 month clothes are now starting to fit.
- He keeps rolling onto his tummy at night and waking himself up.
- Andrew and Wyatt fell down the stairs this week. It was really scary and Andrew was more shooken up because he was the one holding wyatt. He was walking down the stairs and slipped on one of the bottom stairs. As he was falling, Wyatt hit his head on the wall and they both tumbled to the hardwood floor and wyatt fell out of Andrew's grip and onto the floor. Immediately Wyatt began screaming and screaming. His head was all red and started to form a goose. Of course I expect the worse and started looking things up and was hoping he didn't have a concussion or something. He was totally fine with just a little bruise. Andrew felt so bad. We cancelled our movie date (Breaking Dawn) to stay home and keep an eye on Wy. His first of many tumbles I'm sure!

24 weeks: (5 1/2 months)
- I started giving Wyatt rice cereal everyday! I wanted to be consistent and start solids soon.
- He seems to be in the very beginning stages of crawling. He is trying to get his knees under his belly, but having a hard time with lifting his arms and chest off of the floor. That is fine by me...crawling just adds a whole new level that I am not ready for! :)
- Thanksgiving. There were about 30 people over at Aunt Sharon's house this year...it was crazy, but fun to see everyone!

25 weeks:
- I got some oatmeal to try for Wy as he doesn't seem too into rice cereal. He loves it!
- He found his toes! It is so cute to see him grab onto them.
- I have now jumped into doing solids twice a week. He isn't too into the dinner feeding, but I guess I'll keep trying it. I'm still just trying to figure out how much to give him and when to feed him solids. So far, I usually give him his bottle first and then about half an hour after he finishes I give him solids. He usually ends up doing a couple tablespoons of oatmeal and like half a jar of solids. It works for now!

5 months

Wyatt has been 5 months for a week now. I can't believe how much he is growing. His hair is starting to grow more now too and his two bottom teeth are really coming in now. He is getting to be so big. I want to just treasure EVERY moment.

I absolutely LOVE being home with him. I almost think I play with him TOO much. Although, I've been thinking about getting a part-time job. The only thing is I don't want to pay for daycare for wyatt. It would be pointless for me to be working because it would just be going straight to daycare. Apparently I can get paid for helping Amy take her to things and be like her caretaker. I am in the process of figuring out all that and filling out some paperwork. We'll see if that works. I am also thinking of selling some of my knitted goods. Any name ideas? This probably won't be for awhile, but just thoughts on how I can make a few bucks.

At 21 weeks I started making wyatt 7 ounce bottles, but I'm not sure he really needs that extra ounce. I think I might cut back to 6 ounces and see how he does. (it saves money and we are all about that these days!) We are still doing rice cereal every few days. Sometimes I get a little anxious to want to start solids with him, but then I think how nice it is to just have to do the bottle. I want to enjoy these days before they are gone! :) I have started adding applesauce to his rice cereal and he seems to like it a little better.

Wyatt totally knows what his bottle is. I'll be holding him and making his bottle at the same time and he will keep turning his head looking at what I'm doing. As soon as I start shaking the bottle he will start teaching his arm out and opening his mouth like he wants it. Too cute! :)

We have also tried the johnny jump up with Wy and he just sat there. He doesn't really know what to do yet with yet, but he liked to just be able to just be upright. My mom also bought him an exersaucer a couple of days ago. It doesn't really have much music but it's great for him to be up and checking things out. He enjoys it!

Wyatt has a funny pose that looks like a football player. He purses his lips and at the same time he'll "flex" his arms. It is pretty cute.

Here are Wyatt's 5 month pictures! I was changing him after and he kept rolling over on the bed. He was being all cute so I kept snapping pictures of our little cutie! Enjoy! :)

Pumpkin Patch.

We went to the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago with my mom and Amy. It was so fun! It will be so fun when Wyatt is older and we can do the different activities they have. They had pony's you could ride, hay rides, pumpkin hurling, big slide, band, and probably more! Here are some pics from the day. (Wyatt was 19 weeks)

20 weeks (4 1/2 months)

Wyatt has been laughing SO much more. It is the B E S T! When he laughs it makes me laugh, and I fall in love with him all over again.

Teething has gone to a whole new level this week! At the beginning of the week I could really feel his tooth coming in and by the end of the week, I could now see the tip of his tooth AND the other tooth was coming in too. (They are the front two bottom teeth) I feel like that is so young to get your first tooth!

We tried out Solid Rock church this weekend, and I had every intention of hanging out with Wy in the mom's lounge with a tv feed. I was toying with the idea of putting him in the nursery like Sarah does with Kate, but didn't know if I could handle that yet. Well, we get there, and I decided to try out the nursery so I could enjoy the service too. Man, was it hard. I don't think I heard a single word the guy said because I was too focused on how wyatt was doing and if my pager was gonna go off. I held that thing so close to me. I went and got him before the last song (he loves music) and they said he slept for a bit and did great. See, it's not so bad afterall. I actually think it's good to get him to go with other people he does't know so that he won't get attached to me.

I am still doing rice cereal every few days. He just doesn't seem super into it. We tried avocado the other night at the Stoke's. I mashed it up in between my fingers and really seemed to like that. When I get going with solids I'll have to try that one for sure. I would love to make my own baby food, so I think I will.

Wyatt has learned how to use his lips to make noise. HA! He makes little raspberry noises! It is the cutest thing EVER!

Andrew and I also just started Dave Ramsey. It's a finance program that is already so good. They have classes at various churches but they didn't have one by us until January, and we wanted to do it now. We are doing the online program, which is basically the same thing. Our friends are also doing this program so it will be great to dialogue with them about money issues. The hope is to get out of debt sooner than later and start saving too! :) Wyatt, just say thank you now. :)

19 weeks.

Last weekend Wyatt and I went to the beach with my family. Andrew was at the beach as well, but with a bunch of guy friends. It is their annual trip and it just happened to be the same weekend. We had a great time at the beach relaxing and playing games. The only thing was that Wyatt had a hard time sleeping that weekend. He kept waking up in the middle of the night and I would comfort him to put him back to sleep. I didn't think about it then, but Andrew thought maybe it was because of teething. Our first pediatrician did say that teething can start as early as 3 months. I just wasn't sold on it. The next few days he had been drooling more and when I checked his bottom gums, it looked like his teeth were coming in. It was like two half moon shapes where his bottom two teeth would go. C R A Z Y! My little baby is teething. Oh, it's so sad when he just cries and cries and nothing will help. I can't even imagine what that must feel like to have sharp teeth pierce through your gums. OUCH! He actually hasn't been too bad. We bought some tylenol just in case he needed some for night time. I don't like giving it to him if I don't need to. Who knows it could be weeks before we see an actual tooth!

He is all about rolling these days. He can now roll from his back to his tummy and he does it ALL the time. Almost every time you lay him down on his back he will roll over to his tummy. He hasn't learned how to roll back over yet.

Wyatt also loves to grab my face. I'll put it inches away from his face and he'll reach up and just start exploring my face. He'll touch my nose, eyes, lips...whatever he can get his little hands on. Then he'll smile. He knows he has my heart. Goodness, I love our little boy. He seriously is such a great little baby. We are so blessed and I am so excited to teach him about the world! :)

4 months (18 weeks)

Wyatt turned 4 months old on October 5th. He is such a big boy! He can officially hold his head up now. Well, he has been able to since about 16 weeks. We saw the pediatrician on Monday and these are Wy's measurements:

Weight: 15.12 lbs. (64%) BIG BOY!
Height: 26 1/2" (91%) They asked where he got his height..so tall!
Head Circumference: 43 cm (67%) He is more proportioned..not such a big head anymore..well, it is still hard to get some clothes over his head.

We love the new pediatrician! My mom actually went to high school with his wife and I went to school with his son - nice to have connections! He was really interested in Wyatt and observing him and his personality and asking lots of questions. He kept saying how strong he is. He really is though. When he grabs onto your thumbs and you pull him up, he will stand on his legs. He loves standing. He will smile at anyone and is starting to laugh more. Grandpa can get him to laugh like crazy! :) He is cooing ALL the time. It is so fun to interact with him now and talk about to his cooing. He loves to look at himself in the mirror (although he doesn't realize it is him yet)

He mentioned that we could start him on some rice cereal and solids...CRAZY! This is a whole new world to me...we'll see if he likes it. I went out and bought a feeding spoon and rice cereal. We tried it a couple of mornings ago and didn't seem too interested but it also didn't seem like he was absolutely opposed to it. I'll try it again this weekend, but I guess you just have to be persistent with it. Watch the video below.

Well, we went back in forth between what method to try for putting wyatt down to sleep (naps and bedtime) and ended up with the "cry it out" method. I didn't think I liked this one but ended up working really well. I was just getting so exhausted rocking or bouncing him to sleep. We needed to figure something else out! Last Friday night we tried it for bedtime. We tried to pick up on his cues - yawning and rubbing his eyes. Then we turned on white noise (his bear makes womb sounds/beach sounds) and laid him in his crib. The first time we let him go 3 minutes of crying and then I went up to check on him. I soothed him with my hand on his cheek and put the pacifier in his mouth, which he likes to suck on. The next interval would be 5 minutes, and then 7, 10, 1, or whatever we want. Well, when I went to go check on him after the 5 minutes he was out! We were amazed! I was trying not to get my hopes up, but pretty much every other time since has only been a few minutes of crying. I think the key is to watch for the early signs of being tired. We were letting him go too long and then he was overtired.

I think I want to try and swaddle Wyatt with one arm out. He loves to have his fingers in his mouth and I've noticed a couple of times he has come out from his swaddle and is sucking on his fingers and it puts him right to sleep: self-soothing = YES! He has just started sucking his thumb. He will totally put just his thumb in his mouth. It is the cutest thing EVER!

Here are a few of his 4 month pictures I took. On the last picture, you can totally see his hair growing...I have a strange feeling it might be growing up! :) Wyatt is such a blessing. Sometimes I still cannot believe we have a baby. He is such a mellow baby and it's so fun to already see some of his personality. I think I will like this next stage. It was actually interesting to hear the pediatrician say that from 4-6 months babies are much more social and outgoing, smiling at everyone. When they yet 7-9 months they are a little more stand off-ish.

On a side note, I have started Power90 (a less intense P90X) and it's going very well. I really enjoy it and it doesn't take very long. I just started week 3 today. We'll see if I can lose some of this baby weight. One and half pounds down..a lot to go!!! :)

16 weeks.

Wyatt had two more seizures this week, but they were on his head. It was his head that was shaking, not his arms. It was so weird and I got completely freaked out. We called the on-call pediatrician. She asked a bunch of questions and basically said that it might just be muscle spasms. I go in to the doctors in a week for Wyatt's 4 month and so we will talk to him then.

Wyatt had his first cold this week - it was absolutely pitiful! He was so congested and started coughing a bit. As soon as I put the humidifier in the room we both started feeling better! I think it lasted almost a week for him.

Sometimes I just can't get over that he is our baby. He is getting SO big. I can't wait to see how much he weighs and go to the doctors. We are just taking one day at a time (no pun intended) and enjoying each day as it comes to us. I don't want to always say, "I can't wait until he can do this or that..", but enjoy what is in front of us.

This week Wyatt rolled over from his tummy to his back. We always had him on his back waiting for him to roll to his tummy and it just wasn't happening. We were looking at it all wrong...he just wanted to be on his tummy and roll over! It just makes him seem that much older!

15 weeks

This week Wyatt has been starting to grab for toys. It is so cute to watch finally open up his fists more and want to play with things. I still have to put the toys near his hands for him to try and grab it. Here is a video of him holding on to a toy.

Kelley and I went to this huge warehouse full of baby things. This was also a horrible day! First, we got to the warehouse and wyatt started fussing so the two of us went immediately back to the car to feed him. While feeding him he had a seizure like symptom. This would have been the third time it happened. Last week my mom was feeding him and all of the sudden she says, "it looks like he is having a seizure." I never saw so just thought she was exaggerating. Andrew saw the same thing a few days ago. His arms start shaking in really small, fast movements. It was really scary. He was facing away from me and I tried to turn him around so I could see his eyes but by the time I turned him around it was over. They have only lasted like 5 seconds or less. It is so weird.

We left the warehouse sale and drove back to Kelley's. It is only like a 10 minute drive. We arrived at her house and were getting our babies out of the car when I realized that I had never strapped Wyatt in. I didn't bring my base to the carseat because you can just use the handles on the carseat and the seatbelt to strap the carseat in. Wyatt was strapped into the seat, but I had totally forgotten to buckle the seatbelt in. OH MY GOSH! I could not believe I had done this. This was my first really 'mom' moment. Unbelievable!

videos.

Wyatt has been talking more and more...or rather cooing. Although, everytime the camera gets on him, he freezes. The first video is of him cooing on his playmat, which he loves!

Tummy time. Wy is getting so strong and holding his head up longer! He is SO big!

And...a couple fun pictures for your viewing. (14 weeks)

14 weeks

My mom went back to work this week and Wy and I have been enjoying each other. I took Wyatt to the zoo for the first time. It was mostly a trip for the mommies! :) The other three babies were like 2-3 months older than Wyatt, and much more alert. Hence, most of the pictures Wyatt is sleeping. Oh well..I had fun! I got to meet two other amazing moms. I hope we get to hang out again soon.

As you can see in the picture, Wyatt is starting to roll over. He is in the very beginning stages but is so fun to see!

My sister's baby, Reagan, who is 6 weeks older than Wyatt is just now getting out of her 3-6 month clothes. Wyatt is too...I was trying his 6 month clothes on the other day and some of them fit!!! CRAZY!

Wyatt had his first giggle this week. It wasn't really a laugh but a pre-laugh! :) It was the cutest thing EVER. We are trying to capture a video of it. We'll see if he lets us...

This week I tried not swaddling him as well as just laying him down for a nap. I think he was so tired that he just fell right asleep because he definitely hasn't done it anymore. We will still be swaddling (seems to help) and soon we will try the cry it out method. It is so hard to just let him cry and cry and cry. It would be great to get him to just fall asleep on his own though instead of us having to bounce him or something that involves us moving nonstop for a considerable amount of time! :)

3 months

3 months!!! I can't believe it. Our baby boy is getting SO big. Three months has literally flown by. We went from living at Camp Hammer to living with my parents in Portland, OR. He has become so much more alert and can definitely tell when it is his daddy or mommy talking to him. He is all about smiles these days! We just love him SO much.

I can't wait to see how much he weighs. We go in for his four month appointment on Oct. 10th.

12 weeks.

Wyatt found his fingers this week! It's really funny when he is lying on his play mat and we hear this sucking noise from across the room...pretty cute!

We are doing mostly formula now. I will breastfeed once in the morning and then late afternoon/early evening it's about time to get that milk out! :) This is what works for now. It's beginning to be a battle at the early evening breastfeeding time so we may have to ka-bosh that one. Wyatt did have his first 6 oz bottle this week. Everything I have read up on says to give a 3 month old less than this but I am going off of how much his little stomach wants to eat. He guzzled the 6 ounces down. Although, I think he would eat just about anything. He loves to suck! He is still spitting up a ton, but it's better. We realized that 6 ounces might be a little much and he seems satisfied with 5 ounces.

He doesn't sleep in his bassinet anymore on the pack n' play. There is a level before the bottom of the pack n' play that we have laid Wyatt in and he does great.

11 weeks.

We are getting settled into Portland. It is super crazy taking care of Wyatt and my mom, but we are surviving.

Wyatt slept through the night 3 times this week! YEAH!! I hope there are more of those to come. Not much else is new.

10 weeks.

At 10 weeks old Wyatt had his first golf cart ride at Camp Hammer. We were saying our goodbyes to camp. The three of us took the golf cart around camp to get a couple last minute things and stare up at the sky. Camp Hammer is the only place I have ever been where the stars in the sky look absolutely amazing. There isn't a light in site forever and the night sky seriously looks like nothing you have ever seen before.

Wyatt was 10 1/2 weeks old when he went on his first plane ride. I wish I had pictures from this adventure, but it was kind of a little crazy. It was just Wy and I. Andrew dropped us off on their way up to Portland. I had to feed him right when we got there which took a little bit of time. Then there ended up being a really long security line. By the time we got to the end, Wyatt had finally fallen asleep in the moby wrap. We got to the part where you take your shoes off, and put everything on the conveyor belt. They told me I had to take Wyatt out. Ugh...he had just fallen asleep and why does that matter anyway? I was a little annoyed with that, but more annoyed with the fact that I had to remove the moby wrap. For any of you who know what a moby wrap is...it takes forever to put on and take off. When I got to the other side I had to figure out what to do with Wyatt while I put the moby back on. I layer a blanket down and set him on it. As we were walking down the terminal, I heard my name over the loud speaker. That has never happened to me before. We only had about 10 minutes before the plane took off. Luckily we made it, and it wasn't a full flight! I even had an empty seat next to me. Wyatt was a superstar the whole flight. I nursed up and down for the air pressure and in between he just slept. Kelley and Reagan came to pick us up and now we are in Portland, OR, waiting for our stuff to arrive later. Thank you Dad, Uncle Jay, and Nathan for helping us move!

Pictures to come..I promise.

9 weeks.

I am way behind on blogging. We were busy packing and getting things ready for the big move. The big move happened and now that we have settle a bit, I can blog yet again. You will see a few blog posts to get me up to date. [most of it is just for me to document it]

Wyatt went to church for the first time at nine weeks. We went as a staff for part of debrief. It was great, even though I stayed in the quiet room the whole time nursing him.

This week he also slept through the night for the FIRST time. WOOHOO! We couldn't believe it. I literally woke up wondering if I had done a middle of the night feeding. I was so confused. ha! He slept from 10:45pm - 6:15am.

He has been getting better at tummy time as well. He tries so hard to lift his head off the ground. He is already moving his legs and butt like crazy! :)

Wyatt had his two week check up this week too. Our pediatrciain said he looked great and he was gaining weight. YEAH.

weight: 11lb. 13 1/2oz [50%]
height: 23 inches [50%]
head: 16 inches [90%]

Now, it's the battle of whether to go straight to formula or what!?! Decisions, decisions, decisions...

2 months

WOW. 2 months already. Wyatt is getting so big and long. I can't wait for his two week appointment to see how long he is. [i thought the third picture was a funny one]

Wyatt weighs 11 pounds!!! It is so fun to be able to weigh him each week at the breastfeeding support group.

He has also been cooing more and more.

This last week I got acupncture to help with my low milk supply. I haven't noticed too much of a change, but it was definitely an experience. She was a really nice lady but a little hippie-ish. She poked me in my head, shoulders, pinky fingers, knees, and feet. They are all points in which aid in your milk production. The only ones that hurt were the pinky fingers because there isn't much there! She then heated up the needles with this cigar looking thing. It was crazy but I'm glad I at least tried it.

I am enjoying every moment with our baby boy.

7 weeks.

This week Wyatt smiled for the first time. He had been smiling before, but not intentionally. [see video below]

We said goodbye to pretty much all of his newborn clothes this week and brought out the 3 months clothes. So crazy...he is getting so big! :)

He kind of has a routine going. He will let us know when he is hungry and I'll feed him

He weighed in at 10 pounds 7 ounces this week. YEAH he is gaining weight!

This week Jonathan, Sean, and Alison visited. They were so helpful and we had a blast. We will miss them.

6 weeks.

I can't believe he is 6 weeks already! Everyone keeps saying that at 6 weeks they will be like a different baby. I totally see what they are saying now. Well, I don't think THAT much has changed but he does seem like he is more of a baby now and not so much a newborn. It almost (almost) makes me miss that stage! :)

He turned 6 weeks last Sunday and on Saturday night he slept 6 hours straight! I think he has done about 5-6 every night since! YEAH! He also seems much more alert these days...which also means he can be a little fussy too! His bouncer has a mirror on the mobile and he was totally looking at it the other day. It was so cool to see him starting to do more. We have been trying to do tummy time every day. He has been laying on the blanket and trying to move his legs and butt, but not his head. When he turned 6 weeks he held his head up on the blanket. He is getting to be such a big boy.

We went to our breastfeeding support group yesterday and weighed him. Wyatt weighed in at...9lb. 15oz....almost ten pounds!! Way to go Wyatt! I have to remember that any weight gain is great! It's so easy to get caught up in the fact that the average weight gain is an ounce a day, and he only gained 5 ounces last week. I he is doing great and he is gaining and that's all there is to it!

I had my 6 week check up this last week with my midwife. I got the all clear to begin working out again. But, seriously, when does anyone have time to workout..goodness! She also told me to try acupuncture for my low milk supply. I kind of want to try. I'll let you know what happens. We said our goodbyes as I won't be seeing her anymore before we leave.

He hasn't intentionally smiled at us yet...but, I feel that it is coming soon!
